Anthropic Invisibly Watermarks Claude Text to Meet EU AI Regulations

Anthropic has disclosed that it is embedding invisible watermarks into text generated by its Claude AI model in order to satisfy European Union regulatory requirements for AI-generated content identification. South African AI experts previously raised scepticism about the reliability of such watermarking as definitive evidence of AI authorship, a debate that this disclosure is likely to extend.
