Visa Turns Smartphones into SME Payment Terminals in Emerging Markets

Visa has expanded its smartphone point-of-sale programme for small and medium enterprises in emerging markets, enabling merchants to accept card payments using only a handset without dedicated hardware. The initiative is directly targeted at Africa's large informal sector, where dedicated payment terminal penetration remains low.
