Togo Launches Government AI Project to Build Models for 50 Local Languages

The Togolese government has initiated an artificial intelligence project targeting the development of natural language processing models for 50 local African languages. The initiative is one of the few sovereign AI commitments on the continent focused explicitly on indigenous language technology.
