Raxio Tops $380M Committed Capital as African Data Centre Capacity Surges Sixfold
Raxio has surpassed $380 million in committed capital following increased stakes from investors Roha and Meridiam, coinciding with a sixfold surge in the operator's African data centre capacity. The milestone represents one of the largest single capital commitments recorded for a pan-African data centre platform.
Raxio: sixfold growth means the real bottleneck is now power, not ambition
Signing contracts for six times more power in the first half of 2026 than in the same period last year is not a marketing number — it means real companies are committing real money to keep servers running in Uganda, the DRC, Côte d'Ivoire.
The deeper signal is in the deal sizes shifting upward. Raxio is now fielding requests for deployments of 10 megawatts and above — far larger than its early projects. That is not modest colocation demand; that is cloud providers and AI workloads needing serious, reliable electricity on African soil.
Which is exactly where the constraint lives. Tier III certification and carrier-neutral design solve the engineering problem. Whether the national grids feeding these facilities can actually deliver — consistently, affordably — is the question $380 million cannot answer on its own.
