INTERPOL: AI Now Drives Over Half of Africa's Cybercrime, Losses at $484M

INTERPOL data covering 36 African countries finds that artificial intelligence now drives 55 percent of cybercrime on the continent, with total losses reaching $484 million. Kaspersky has separately reported rising spyware and credential-theft activity across Africa, and INTERPOL has additionally identified Nigeria as both a major origin point and a primary target of regional cybercrime operations.
