The two licences it has applied for would end that. Build your own towers and fibre, route your own international traffic, and suddenly you compete on your own terms — not at a discount set by someone else's infrastructure.
Safaricom's dominance in Kenya has always rested partly on owning more of the ground. Airtel is asking to stop borrowing it.
