OPay NYSE IPO Filing Confirms $90.9M Half-Year Profit, Standard Bank Anchor, and Dual NGX Listing Plan
OPay's NYSE IPO prospectus reveals a $532.9 million short-term investment portfolio, a claimed 57.4 percent share of Nigeria's digital loan disbursements in 2025, and Standard Bank's up to $200 million anchor stake. The filing discloses the full ownership structure and winner dynamics of what analysts are describing as Africa's largest fintech public market moment. OPay has separately received approval for a secondary listing on the Nigerian Exchange, opening the stock to Nigerian retail investors following its NYSE debut.
OPay NGX: approval is not the same as access
The NGX secondary listing approval sounds like the story closing well — Nigerian investors finally getting a stake in the app they use to pay for everything.
But OPay's own filing flags the catch: shares traded in Lagos may not be interchangeable with the American depositary shares trading in New York. Different pools, potentially different prices, no guaranteed mechanism to move between them.
So Nigerian retail investors could end up holding a shadow version of the stock — technically OPay, but thinner, less liquid, and priced separately from where the real market-making happens.
The listing approval matters. The terms of it matter more.
