NCC Records Over 5,000 Fibre Cuts in H1 2026, Forms Protection Committee

Nigeria's National Communications Commission has recorded more than 5,000 fibre cable cuts in the first half of 2026, primarily caused by road construction activities, and has established a formal protection committee in response. The scale of damage represents a material threat to Nigeria's digital backbone infrastructure.
