MNT-Halan Closes $76.5 Million Securitisation as Cairo IPO Preparations Advance
Egyptian fintech unicorn MNT-Halan has secured $76.5 million in securitisation deals, building on the Cairo IPO preparation and CIB anchor investment reported in recent days. The debt raises signal a maturing Egyptian fintech capital markets infrastructure and establish a replicable structured finance model for the sector.
MNT-Halan: Egypt just showed how you build a replicable debt market
Three securitisation deals in quick succession — EGP528 million for one subsidiary, EGP1.2 billion and EGP2.28 billion for another — isn't just MNT-Halan raising more money. It's a company showing that the same loan book can be packaged and sold to bond investors more than once, at scale, in local currency.
That repeatability is the thing. A single clever debt deal is a one-off. Three tranches across two subsidiaries, following a similar issuance last October, looks like a model that actually works — and can be copied.
Every African fintech sitting on a loan book is watching this. If Egypt's capital markets can absorb structured deals at this pace, Cairo isn't just MNT-Halan's listing venue. It starts to look like a real funding infrastructure for the sector.
