Airtel Money London IPO Prices at £1.96, Opens Retail Offer at $7 Billion Valuation
Airtel Money has opened its retail IPO offer ahead of its London Stock Exchange listing, with the share price confirmed at £1.96 and the business valued at approximately £5.3 billion — equivalent to roughly $7 billion. The listing is being described as one of Africa's largest-ever mobile money public offerings and establishes a public market benchmark for the continent's second-largest mobile money network.
Airtel Money IPO: the retail window is the only genuinely new thing here
The institutional book is done. The valuation is set. What opened this week is a £250 minimum retail offer — ordinary UK savers can now buy in alongside TPG and Mastercard.
That's a meaningful detail. Retail access wasn't guaranteed; many large IPOs skip it entirely. But notice who qualifies: investors resident and physically present in the United Kingdom. The Africans whose money flows through Airtel Money's network across 13 countries cannot participate.
The people building the $245 billion in annual transactions get the product. London gets the shares.
