The ambition is real: slash Burkina Faso's internet costs by 50% by routing fibre through Nigeria into the Sahel. A Technical Working Committee has been agreed. The vision is on paper.
But Project Bridge still hasn't broken ground in Nigeria itself. Nearly two years after launch, with over $900 million in financing lined up and a legal entity only just incorporated last week, Nigerians are still waiting to see the first cable laid.
Exporting unbuilt infrastructure isn't diplomacy — it's a promissory note written against a promise that hasn't been kept at home. Burkina Faso should be watching Lagos's streets, not the minister's social media feed.
