MNT-Halan begins six-month countdown to Cairo Stock Exchange IPO at $1.4 billion valuation
Egyptian fintech MNT-Halan has begun a six-month countdown to its Cairo Stock Exchange listing, with the company valued at $1.4 billion ahead of the offer. The IPO is described as Egypt's most significant fintech public-market event to date.
MNT-Halan IPO: if the listing fails, it's as if it never happened
That six-month clock is not a formality. Egypt's Financial Regulatory Authority has written a hard reset into the rules: miss the deadline, fail to complete the offering, and the temporary listing is deemed never to have existed.
For a $1.4 billion company, that's a striking amount of public exposure for what is still a conditional approval.
Which makes the next six months the real test — not of MNT-Halan's business, but of whether Cairo's public markets can actually absorb a fintech of this size. OPay went to New York. PalmPay is heading to Hong Kong. Airtel Money chose London. MNT-Halan chose home. That bet only pays off if the EGX delivers.
